CHANDIGARH, JANUARY 28: On the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the Finance Department has released Rs. 431.74 Crores on account of Local Bodies grants, disbursement of funds to School Education, funds under Post Matric Scholarship Scheme and capital subsidy to the industries centre at Mohali.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that out of Rs. 431.70 crore, a sum of Rs. 290.82 crore had been released to Local Government Department for grants under 14th Finance Commission.
A sum of Rs 84.19 crore has been released to School Education Department for development and Infrastructural works, including Rs. 49.78 crore under Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan, Rs. 17.78 crore for Smart Schools, besides Rs. 16.63 crore for the execution of various development projects executed by the department under NABARD.
Similarly, the funds to the tune of Rs 55 crore has been released to the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities under the Post matric Scholarship Scheme
The Chief Minister has reiterated his earlier directives to al the Department to mobilise additional resources and curtail wasteful expenditure to further consolidate the state’s fiscal position.
