Unsafe structures at the War Hereos Stadium will make way for new buildings. PWD Minister Vijay Inder Singla along with senior officials inspected the stadium on Saturday.

“The Central government has sanctioned Rs 8 crore for the construction a multipurpose indoor complex at the War Hereos Stadium of Sangrur. Apart from it, the state government will contribute Rs 2-3 crore for the project, if the need arises,” Singla said while inspecting the stadium.

He visited the local swimming pool, football ground, athletics track, hockey ground and other areas. He took a round of the stadium and asked PWD officials to prepare detailed maps of the new buildings.

“We are planning to construct a new gate at the back side of the stadium. Presently, it takes a lot of time to enter the stadium from the front gate,” Singla said.
