Muktsar, December 27: Acting on the statement of Station House Officer (SHO) of Kotbhai police station, the police today booked SAD’s Gidderbaha constituency in charge Hardeep Singh Dhillon, alias Dimpy Dhillon, his brother Sunny Dhillon, a personal assistant and some others for allegedly smashing the table glass of the SHO’s office, threatening him and causing obstruction in his duty last evening.
Notably, SAD activists under the leadership of Dimpy Dhillon had yesterday gheraoed Kotbhai police station till midnight demanding the release of Yadwinder Singh, a resident of Kothe Jagdeanwale village, alleging that he was arrested just because he was an Akali.
Rajpal Singh, DSP, Gidderbaha, said, “A case has been registered against Dimpy Dhillon, Sunny Dhillon, Jagtar Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Bunty Dhillon and Gurpreet Singh under Sections 353, 186, 427, 506 and 148 of the IPC at Kotbhai police station. However, no arrest has been made as of now.”
Dimpy Dhillon said, “The SHO, Krishan Kumar, is working at the behest of a Congress MLA. He is concocting a false story to frame us. Why will we smash the table glass of the SHO’s office? If we had any such intention, we would have thrashed the SHO, not the office property. He had arrested our worker without his fault and we had simply gone there demanding his release. But when the SHO refused to listen to our genuine demand, we lodged a protest.” Notably, Yadwinder has a dispute over two kanals with some residents of his village, owing allegiance to the Congress. His brother Sucha Singh alleged, “We have the ownership of the land but some Congressmen are trying to encroach upon it. The court has ordered status quo on the property in question but the policemen took my brother into preventive custody yesterday, anticipating some violence.”
