Chandigarh, May 31:
Sangrur District has bagged the top position in the Wheat procurement awards conferred by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak in connection with the successful conclusion of the Rabi Marketing Season. Ludhiana East bagged the second while the third position went to S.A.S. Nagar District. Fatehgarh Sahib came 4th while Patiala bagged 5th position.
The Minister was reviewing the procurement season at the Anaj Bhawan in Sector 39 here today. While congratulating the entire staff of the Department for the stupendous success during the procurement season, the Minister exhorted them to gear up for the next season in order to repeat the success story of the present season.
On the occasion, the Minister was apprised that the awards bestowed on the districts were based upon the 5 point criterion including the cluster mapping on Anaj kharid portal, uploading of vehicle lists, online gate pass generation, average lifting from April 17th, 2023 to May 16th 2023 and average payments made from April 16th, 2023 to May 15th.
It was also brought to the notice of the Minister that Punjab has contributed 47 percent to the Central pool this season which is the highest. Besides, 1860 regular and 920 temporary mandies were notified this season which saw 125 Lakh Metric Tonnes of wheat being procured.
Among others present on the occasion included the Secretary of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Director Ghanshyam Thori, MD PUNSUP Sonali Giri, Secretary, Punjab Mandi Board Amrit Gill, Joint Director Procurement Dr. Anjuman Bhaskar and all DFSCs.
