Though Satish Kaushik has ventured into Haryanvi film genre, Punjab and Punjabiyat continues to remain special to him. More than Punjabi films, it’s the getup, particularly of a turbaned Sikh, which instills excitements in him.
And taking his liking of playing onscreen sardaar forward, Satish will be seen sporting a turban in two Hindi films — Namastey England and Soorma. When contacted Kaushik said, “Yes. You will see me wearing a turban in both the films.” While the shoot for these projects is on, he tried various turban designs as the character demanded.
In Namastey England, the turban has an NRI inspired style, while in Soorma (a film on hockey player Sandeep Singh’s life) Kaushik will don a simple headgear in plain colors. He added, “I feel proud when I wear a turban. It’s a different feeling. And that’s why when a role of a Punjabi character is offered to me, my first question is ‘whether I will wear a turban?’.” Kaushik is making a Haryanvi film, Choriyan Choron Se Kam Nahi Hoti. “I am looking to do something in Punjabi as well,” he added.
