New Delhi, May 9: The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked the Himachal Pradesh Government to furnish a list of officials under whose nose unauthorised constructions came up in Kasauli, where a woman officer was recently killed during a court-ordered demolition drive.
“Unless you take action and remove four-five people from service, nothing will fall in line,” a Bench of Justices MB Lokur and Deepak Gupta told the Himachal Pradesh Advocate General. Asking the state to file a status report, the Bench posted it for hearing in August.
The Bench, which had taken suo motu cognisance of the incident, directed the state government to spell out the measures undertaken and proposed to stop unauthorised construction as also removal of debris of unauthorised constructions demolished at Kasauli.
Assistant Town and Country Planner Shail Bala Sharma was killed on May 1 while supervising a court-ordered demolition drive.
The state government had to face the wrath of the Supreme Court, which said on May 3 that the incident was a result of non-implementation of the law.
