Chandigarh, May 24:
” The teaching community would play a significant role in revolutionizing the educational scenario. The teachers in the Government Schools are chosen on merit who can make the education more qualitative. Thus they can strategize exceptionally with the assistance of their staff and increase the confidence level of the students”.
These views were expressed here today by the Education Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer while presiding over first meeting with the D.E.O.s (Secondary and Elementary Education), Principals, Head Teachers and Incharges of the Government Schools via EDUSAT aimed at educational reforms.
Disclosing further, the Minister said that the suggestions have been invited from all the officers and school heads regarding educational reforms and he reiterates that the suggestions must be forwarded after due consultations with the other employees, students and their parents.
The Minister further added that he is regularly visiting the Government schools which also includes the ones in Delhi. He also shared the positives from the Delhi schools. Appreciating the good experience he has had at the schools in Punjab, the Minister also said that more efforts must be made to ensure quality education in these. He also exhorted the teachers to impartially record the baseline query of their students in order to ascertain their learning levels. The Department would review the same by forming special teams for taking the feedback.
The Minister further stated that in future, no work of the Non – Teaching nature would be taken from the teachers.
It is noteworthy that the Education Minister had earlier invited suggestions from the school heads on the Education Department website regarding transforming school education. He read some of them and lauded the positive ones Forwarded by the school heads. He said that he is perusing each suggestion personally and the new policy would be prepared only after carefully going through the same. The last date for forwarding suggestions has been extended to May 31, 2022.
Earlier, the Minister was welcomed by the DPI (Secondary Education) Kuljit Pal Singh and other officers on reaching the head office of the Education Department.
Among others present on the occasion included the Chairman PSEB Yograj, DPI Elementary Education Harinder Kaur, Deputy SPD Gurjit Kaur, Deputy Director Gurjot Kaur, Vice Chairman of the Board Dr. Varinder Kaur, Deputy Secretary Administration Gurtej Singh, EDUSAT Engineer Amritpal Singh and Amardeep Singh Batth.
