Senior SAD leader and former transport minister Ajit Singh Kohar passes away

Chandigarh, February 5: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and formers transport minister Ajit Singh Kohar (78) died of a cardiac arrest in Jalandhar late Sunday night.

Kohar died at 11.30pm on Sunday.

Kohar, who was first elected as MLA from the Lohian constituency in 1997 on a SAD ticket, retained the seat five consecutive times. Presently, he was the MLA from Shahkot.

On Sunday, Kohar’s health started deteriorating following which his family took him to a local hospital from where he was referred to a private hospital in Jalandhar. He was the revenue minister in 2007 and also held the portfolio of transport during the previous SAD government’s regime.
