Chandigarh, November 28
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab president and Member of Parliament Bhagwant Mann termed another probe panel (committee) set up by Home Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa in multi-crore drug trafficking case as a complete wrongdoing stating that they were following the footsteps of Capt Amarinder Singh to save the notorious big defaulters in drug trafficking; so that the matter can be put on hold and the 2022 elections can pass.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Bhagwant Mann asked the Channi government how many more investigation teams would have to be formed to nab the drug lords and put them behind bars; who were destroying the youth of Punjab. The people of Punjab are watching and understanding such clever maneuvers and cunning tricks. The Congress, especially Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Home Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, should not try to mislead the people by setting up one inquiry panel or team after another, he said.
Taking a dig, Bhagwant Mann said, “Channi Saab, if you are not a really weak Chief Minister then why are you making such excuses like Capt Amarinder Singh to get hold of notorious and big drug smugglers? Also, Home Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa should explain what is the compulsion that he also started following the footsteps of Captain? Is there a setting or are the legs not bearing weight? As the state president of the ruling Congress, Sidhu Sahib (Navjot Singh Sidhu) should also tell what is the real reason behind the fast unto death? The people of Punjab want to know with great interest and concern as the matter is connected with the young generation of Punjab. The web of drugs has taken away thousands of young men, sons, brothers and husbands from their mothers, sisters and brides forever.”
Also targeting Sukhbir Singh Badal, Bhagwant Mann asked, “Under the banner of Shiromani Akali Dal, which has a golden and glorious background of historical fronts, what has they (Badal family) come up with these days to save their tainted relatives by forming a ‘morcha’ under name of Shiromani Akali Dal. If so, the Badals and company should not use the name of Shiromani Akali Dal.”
Bhagwant Mann said that the Badal family should not run away from facing reality. According to Mann, “On the one hand Sukhbir Singh Badal is saying that one of his close relatives is being implicated in a false case, on the other hand he is saying that he is not afraid. If the case is false and they (the Badals) do not feel fear; then why are they not facing reality instead of making a fuss?”
Addressing the Badals, Mann said, “The truth of the case has to be proven by the courts. The Badal family should face the cases in the court.” Bhagwant Mann further asked the Channi government not to waste any more time in the guise of STF sealed envelope investigation report as no court has restrained the Punjab government for further investigation into the drug trafficking case.
Second, the Home Department has an official copy of the sealed envelope report submitted to the court by the STF, which Home Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa may see at any time, may not be made public, but they can take immediate action on the names of drug traffickers and their patrons in the report. But instead of moving in this direction, the Channi government and Home Minister Randhawa is pursuing Captain’s ‘delay the case, save the culprits’ policy; which has been exposed.
