Seven government schools renamed after freedom fighters, martyrs

Chandigarh, December 29: The Punjab government has renamed seven government schools after freedom fighters and martyrs under its educational institutions renaming policy.

Giving more information, School Education Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, on Tuesday, said that to keep the memory of freedom fighters, martyrs and eminent personalities alive and recognize their unique work in our minds, the state government had started this initiative.

He informed that two government schools of district Bathinda; Government Senior Secondary School (Girls) Kaureana and Government Primary School Patti Pitho have been named after Shaheed Lance Naik Kuldeep Singh Government Senior Secondary School and Shaheed Sepoy Kuldeep Singh Government Primary School, respectively.

Similarly, two schools of district Mansa have been renamed; which included Government Senior Secondary School (Boys) Khayalan Kalan as Shaheed Udey Singh Government Senior Secondary School and Government Senior Secondary School (Boys) Joga as Comrade Jangir Singh Joga Government Senior Secondary School, while Government Senior Secondary School (Boys), Sathiala (Amritsar) named as Shaheed Inspector Raghbir Singh Government Senior Secondary School, Government Senior Secondary School, Ghunnas (Barnala) as Shaheed Sepoy Daleep Singh Government Senior Secondary School and Government Middle School, Vinjhwan, district Gurdaspur as Shaheed Havildar Rajinder Singh Government Middle School.

The notification in this regard would be issued shortly, he added.
