Several Akali-Congress councillors from Ludhiana join AAP ahead of civic polls

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) continues to strengthen itself for the civic polls in Punjab scheduled for later this year.
Likewise, the party got a big boost in Ludhiana on Friday when many Akali Dal and Congress sitting councillors of the Municipal Corporation quit their party and joined the party.
All the leaders were inducted into the party by Punjab Cabinet Minister Lalchand Kataruchak in the presence of party’s state general secretary Harchand Singh Barsat and MLA Gurpreet Gogi.
Those leaders joined AAP include Amit Varsha Rampal and Kala Gautam, sitting Congress councillors of Ludhiana Municipal Corporation, joined AAP at Chandigarh party headquarters on Friday. Former Akali Dal councillor Tanveer Singh Dhaliwal, former Congress councillor Satwinder Singh Jabddi and an independent former councillor Kapil Kumar Sonu also joined the party.
Apart from this, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee secretary Romila Bansal and Phool Badan left the Congress and joined the AAP. Dinesh Makkar, an RTI activist and district president of the RTI cell, also joined the party.
Addressing the media on the occasion, Minister Lalchand Kataruchak said that the people of the entire country including Punjab are very impressed by the public welfare work of the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi and Punjab. People have high expectations from the Aam Aadmi Party and party is committed for the welfare of the people.
He said that like the Assembly polls, the Aam Aadmi Party will register a landslide victory in the civic polls as well.
“Seeing the work being done by the Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab, we decided to join the Aam Aadmi Party. Whatever responsibility the party gives, we will perform it with full dedication and honesty,” newly joined leaders said in the press conference.
