Show details of money given to farmer or face ED: Randhawa to Majithia

Date:

Chandigarh, February 10:  Punjab Cabinet Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Sunday again dared Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia to show the details of donation given to farmer Budh Singh. If the Akali leader cannot prove his claims that the money was from lawful source, he should face Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation.

Randhawa clarified that his demand seeking investigation from ED as Majithia is not part of the government and failed to disclose the source from which he had given this money.

Randhawa stressed that it was also significant to bring in public domain as to why the Akali leader gave Rs. 3.86 lakh to the farmer when as per the records the loan amount was only Rs 1.76 lakh. All this showed that Majithia influenced Budh Singh., he alleged reiterating Majithia must explain the source of money.

Randhawa also took a dig at Akali leader asking him to explain to people of his own constituency as to why why he could not find any family deserving help in his own constituency.

Coming to demand of resignation raised by Majithia, the Congress minister reminded Majithia that he should have himself offered to resign when he facing serious allegation related to drugs during the tenure of Akali-BJP government in the state.

Randhawa claimed that the then Jail minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur was made a scapegoat to save Majithia’s skin. Phillaur was forced to resign from the government whereas he did not have any role. His son Damanvir Phillaur’s name had cropped up which was under investigation.

The Congress leader also said that Majithia’s political conspiracy was exposed as Phillaur had clearly stated in Supreme Court petition that he was falsely implicated in the case with political vendetta. Subsequently, Phillaur had got major relief by getting stay on trial in ED cases.
