Chandigarh, April 9: Allaying all fears over the cremation of Covid-19 patients, Health Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu and Technical Education & Industrial Training Minister Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi today visited at the funeral of Sarpanch Mohan Singh of Village Chatamali, who was died yesterday with the infection of the virus.
Enlightening about the social works was being done by Sarpanch Mohan Singh, Mr. Sidhu said he had a great repute in the area, who often helped the needy. He appealed to the people not to be afraid with the funeral of the Corna infected patients. He said that funerals of the patients don’t pose any threat to attendees or nearby residing people. The Minister informed that the health officials are following all health protocols issued by Health Ministry during the funerals of the Corona Infected people.
The Minister further apprised that even the ash of the infected patient’s doesn’t create any risk and the ash of the body can be collected as per rituals. He said that it was a matter of great sorrow that some of the villagers and family members turned down the funerals; this behavior can’t be tolerated at all.
He reiterated that the main driver of transmission of COVID-19 is through droplets and with close contact of affected person.
The Health Minister also appealed the people to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the state government. He said that with a view to provide health security to people, all the decisions are being taken like lockdown and we all have to vigorously come forward to join the crusade to combat with Corona Virus.
He added that wife and son of deceased surpanch is also reported positive, both are under treatment and stable.
SDM Morinda Mr. Harbans Singh, SDM Chamkaur Sahib Mr. Mankanwal Singh, Civil Surgeon HN Sharma, Dr. Rajiv Gupta, DSP Mr. Sukhjit Singh and Mr. Raj Kapoor were also present on this occasion.
