Chandigarh, April 16: A controversy has erupted over the alleged denial of security to Punjabi singer Parmish Verma, who was attacked on Saturday night.
Sources close to Verma said he had asked for police security at least four times. “He had even met Mohali SSP Kuldeep Chahal, but to no avail,” they said. The officials concerned claimed that the SSP had offered security to Verma, but the singer refused it. They claimed that the singer did not approach the state headquarters.
Meanwhile, the police on Sunday asked all singers to share information about any threat for an evaluation of their security. A spokesperson said it was not possible to give security to all. “We are asking the singers and others associated with the film industry to share threats received or perceived immediately with local cops or ADGP (Security) Gaurav Yadav for effective action.”
