Calgary, Oct 22: The first significant snowfall of the season continues over parts of southwestern Alberta. Total accumulations of 15 to 25 cm are anticipated by Sunday morning.
Up to 15 cm has accumulated in the Calgary area overnight, and will continue today. Another 5-10 cm is expected.
Heavy wet snow accumulating on trees with remaining foliage may break branches, which could result in power disruptions.
Residents have been advised to be prepared to adjust their driving with changing road conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, use of lights and maintaining a safe following distance has been advised. Take frequent breaks and avoid strain when clearing snow.
Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
