To amplify the supply of oxygen in government medical colleges & hospitals, Punjab Medical Education and Research Minister Om Prakash Soni today directed the principals of the three government medical colleges of the state to strengthen the supply chain and make the inventory of 200 cylinders during all times.
Reviewing the situation of the oxygen supply in a meeting with principals of these colleges and hospitals at their official residence here today, Mr. Soni instructed the oxygen suppliers on telephone to ensure smooth supply of the gas to the hospitals. He also directed to ensure more emphasis on sanitization in the hospitals. He directed the officers of the department to ensure that when the demand of medical apparatus comes up from medical colleges and hospitals, then supply of these should be ensured immediately in this pandemic.
The Punjab Medical Education and Research Minister handed over cheque of Rs. 1 crore each to the principals of three medical colleges for treatment expenses of COVID-19 patients and expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for immediate monetary assistance.
On this occasion, Principal Secretary, Medical Education & Research Department D.K. Tewari informed that the Chief Secretary had yesterday granted fiscal aid of Rs. 20 crore for government medical colleges, which would be available soon. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister and Chief Secretary for this financial assistance. Director Medical Education and Research Dr. Avnish Kumar and others were also present during this meeting.
