Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Saturday expressed deep grief over the sad demise of renowned Sikh scholar Dr Saroop Singh Alag (86) after a prolonged illness.
Dr Alag was undergoing treatment at the CMC Hospital in Ludhiana for past some time.
In a condolence message issued here, Sandhwan said the Sikh community has suffered a huge loss from the sudden demise of Dr Saroop Singh Alag. He made a significant contribution in the preaching of Sikh faith by writing over 100 books.
Speaking on the “Alag Shabad Yug Charitable Trust” set up by Saroop Singh Alag, Speaker Sandhwan said that the contribution by Dr Alag will be remembered always as books worth crores of rupees have been distributed to the people at free of cost by this trust. The 218 editions have been published of his pious work on the book ‘Harmandir Darshan’ written on Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar. This book has also been distributed to millions of devotees.
Describing Dr Alag’s death as an irreparable loss, the speaker said, “I pray to the Akal Purakh for his soul rests in peace and give strength to his family.”
