Chandigarh, September 7:
Under a special drive to check sale of illegal lotteries/Parchi/Darha-Satta, a special team of Punjab State Lotteries department on Tuesday conducted a surprise raid in Ludhiana. During the raid, different lottery stalls were checked by the team.
The team also sensitised the lottery sellers that indulging in selling of illegal lotteries/parchi/darha-satta is a crime and if anyone found indulged in these activities, a strict legal action will be taken against them and a criminal case under the various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Lotteries Act will also be filed.
An official spokesperson of the department said that the department will continue to conduct such kind of surprise raids in future also to ensure the sale of genuine and authentic lotteries.
