State Commission directs DGP & Chief Secretary to ensure kids, patients don’t suffer during protests

Date:

Chandigarh, 11 Dec: The Punjab State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has instructed the Director General of Police and the Chief Secretary to ensure that in the event of a protest, barricades must be erected on a side so as to make way for buses carrying schoolchildren as well as ambulances to ensure their safety and security.

Disclosing this here today, Sukesh Kalia, chairman of the commission, said the commission had noticed that in the event of political, social and religious dharnas or demonstration, traffic was halted which also consisted of school buses carrying schoolchildren, thus causing harassment and inconvenience to them and their condition was aggravated in the extremes of weather.

He said as the administration was informed of such protests in advance, it was imperative upon it to make above mentioned arrangement.
