Sukhbir demands immediate arrest of culprits behind Jalandhar temple sacrilege

Date:

Jalandhar/Chandigarh, December 31: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today demanded the immediate arrest of culprits who had committed sacrilege at the Shivpuri temple in Jalandhar besides uncovering of the conspiracy to disturb the peace of Punjab by pitting religious groups against each other.

In a statement here, the SAD President said even as the Congress government had failed to identify the culprit who had committed the heinous act of sacrilege at Sri Harmandar Sahib, another shocking incident of sacrilege had occurred in Jalandhar with culprits disfiguring a Shivling.

Stating that there seemed to be a pattern behind the repeated acts of sacrilege, Sukhbir Badal said “it is clear that some forces want to disturb the peace of Punjab on the eve of the assembly elections. Attempts are being made to create communal strife”.

He said it was the responsibility of the Congress government to take a firm stand against such cases of sacrilege including those which had occurred at Sri Darbar Sahib and Takth Keshgarh Sahib recently.

“Any delay in doing so raises questions marks on the intentions of the Congress government”, he added.
