Punjab State scheduled castes commission summons Director Health

Chandigarh, July 24 : Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has summoned the Director Health Punjab, in person on 10th August, 2017 owing to the careless attitude exhibited by the latter towards the commission.

Disclosing this here today, the Chairman of the commission Rajesh Bagha said that the commission had received a complaint from Mrs. Balvir Kaur w/o Mr. Amrik Singh, r/o Nihal K District Ferozepur according to which she was denied the benefit under ‘Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojna Scheme‘ and charged Rs.30,000/- for her treatment and Rs.5,000/- for medicines by Civil Hospital, Jalandhar where she underwent treatment from 7th September, 2016 till 20th September, 2016.

Mr. Bagha further said that the commission had sought a report from the competent officer till 13th July in the matter but even after repeated reminders neither any representative of the Health Department appeared before the commission nor was the report received which clearly shows the non-serious attitude on the part of Director Heath, Punjab towards the commission.

The Chairman also divulged that the next hearing with regard to this complaint has been scheduled for 10nd August. The commission has directed the Director Health to ensure the compliance of the orders of the commission.
