Sunil Jakhar’s statement reflects Congress’s anti-Dalit mentality: Principal Budh Ram

Date:

Chandigarh, April 7

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) strongly condemned the controversial anti-dalit remarks made by former Punjab Congress President Sunil Jakhar and termed his statement as a reflect of Congress’s anti-dalit and anti-poor mentality. In a statement issued from the party headquarters on Thursday, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and MLA from Budhlada, Principal Budh Ram said that Sunil Jakhar’s remark is unfortunate and an outcome of him and his party’s anti-dalit ideology.

Budh Ram said that, after the statement of Sunil Jakhar, the anti-dalit thinking of the Congress party has come to light. Congress has always used dalit community only as the vote bank. Targeting the Congress high command, he asked why Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are still silent about Sunil Jakhar’s remark?

He said that Sunil Jakhar’s statement has deeply hurt and disrespected Dalit society not only in Punjab but in the entire country. People of Punjab will never accept such petty mentality. It is because of such mentality of Congress leaders that today their party is in shambles. Sunil Jakhar has also insulted Babasaheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and the Constitution of India by making such indecent remarks towards a particular society. Congress party should apologize to the people of Punjab for this and take an immediate action against Sunil Jakhar and clarify their party’s stand.
