Supreme Court Collegium recommends five names for elevation as judges of top court

The Supreme Court Collegium led by CJI DY Chandrachud in its meeting held on December 13 has resolved to recommend elevation of five Chief Justices/Judges of the High Court, as judges in the Supreme Court.

These include Justice Pankaj Mithal, Chief Justice, Rajasthan High Court, (PHC: Allahabad); Justice Sanjay Karol, Chief Justice, Patna High Court, (PHC: Himachal Pradesh); Justice PV Sanjay Kumar, Chief Justice, Manipur High Court (PHC: Telangana); Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah, Judge, Patna High Court; and Justice Manoj Mishra, Judge, Allahabad High Court.

The SC Collegium also cleared appointment of Chief Justices of Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand and Gauhati high courts.

The Collegium has recommended elevation of Judges as Chief Justices of the High Court, as mentioned below:

Sanjay Kumar Mishra (PHC: Orrisa) from Uttarakhand High Court appointed as Jharkhand Chief Justice; N Kotiswar Singh (PHC: Manipur) from Gauhati High Court as Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh; and K Viond Chandran from Kerala High Court as Gauhati High Court Chief Justice.
