Chandigarh, May 12: Punjab will take up the contentious issue of the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal and critical water situation in the state in tomorrow’s inter-state meeting of the Northern Zonal Council being chaired by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
Punjab is hosting the meeting that aims to boost regional cooperation between states and to solve inter-state differences and issues amicably.

It is learnt that being the host, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh during his speech in the meeting will touch the issue of impending water crisis in the state while reiterating that Punjab has no spare water for Haryana.
Sources in the government said though Punjab had already stated its viewpoint at a meeting chaired by the Union Ministry of Water Resources to resolve the inter-state issue, Punjab Chief Minister would reiterate the state’s stand at the meeting that was also being attended by the Haryana Chief Minister.
