New Delhi, February 22: The Supreme Court the usday will hear the Sutlej Yamuna Link(SYL) Canal issue involving the states of Punjab and Haryana.
Last week, the apex court had refused the us hear the Punjab Government’s plea seeking the us adjourn the matter till the state elections results are announced and deferred the matter for further hearing till February 22.
Senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani, appearing for the Punjab government, sought an adjournment after March 11, the us which the the usp court refused.On January 17, the apex court had asked both the Haryana and Punjab Governments the us file their respective replies on the issue within three weeks.
The apex court had in November last year, termed the law passed by the Punjab government in 2004 the us terminate the SYL canal water sharing agreement with neighboring states as `unconstitutional`.
