A 16-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar has filed a police complaint, alleging that four youths gang-raped her for 10 days after keeping her in captivity and forced her to eat meat and even exerted pressure on her to change her religion.
“The girl has filed an FIR against four youths — Akram, Aslam, Ayyub and Salim — for gang-raping for about 10 days,” said Mohammad Rizwan, circle officer in Bhopa.
Police said the girl told them that she started for Muzaffarnagar to meet her maternal uncle, who stays in Kukra village in New Mandi area on September 6.
She said she was waiting for a bus at the village bus stand, when the four youths, who were also going to Muzaffarnagar in their car, offered her a lift. She readily accepted as the youths were known to her.
As soon as she entered the car, the youths allegedly pointed a gun at her and covered her eyes with a black strip.
She said in her police complaint that the four youths took her to different places where they raped her.
During her confinement, she said the youths also made her consume meat and even exerted pressure on her to change her religion.
On September 16, the youths set her free near the Ganga canal bridge on the village outskirts, and threatened her with dire consequences if she informed police, the official said.
However, the girl shared her ordeal with her parents who informed police.
On the basis of the FIR, a case has been registered against the four accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
Raids are being conducted to nab them, the circle officer said.
Meanwhile, activists of some Hindu organisations and local BJP leaders went to the Bhopa police station and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused.
