CHANDIGARH, May 11: The Director of Industries and Commerce, Punjab Mr. Sibin C. has advised all the industries using Boilers to be extra cautious while restarting their industries and the boilers weeks of Covid-induced lockdown.
In a statement issued here today, the department said after lifting of lockdown and start of industrial activity, the boiler users are advised to be extra vigilant, follow all safety protocols and to stick to proper procedure as prescribed in the Indian Boiler Regulations 1950, so as to avoid any accident.
It was also advised that during this phase, the Boilers, Pipelines and valves should be tested initially and operated as test run periods and employees working on boilers must be sensitized so as to minimize the risks involved.
Further startup/operation of the Boilers should be carried out under the supervisions of Boiler Operation Engineers or the Boiler Attendants as required under the rules.
