Tighten noose around peddlers, DCs told

Chandigarh, June 28: Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Wednesday ordered Deputy Commissioners to tighten their noose around drug smugglers.

Interacting with the DCs through video-conferencing, the CMsaid a lot needed to be done to eliminate the drug menace and rid the state of gangsters. “Job generation is the need of the hour. Only this way, the youth can be saved,” he said.

The DCs were also told to ensure uninterrupted power supply to paddy farmers. They were asked to keep a check on the spread of crop diseases and make sure that water was not wasted during paddy sowing.

He said the farmers should be encouraged to go in for direct sowing of paddy and that subsidised equipment for straw management should be given to them.
