Tourism Dept tightens noose around illegal Kasauli hotels

Date:

Solan, May 10: After drawing flak from the apex court for failing to check the unauthorised constructions, the Tourism Department has come into action mode.

Officials have initiated a drive to check whether hotels in the Kasauli Planning Area are operating with the due clearances which include a valid registration from their department, consent to operate from the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) as well as a fresh NOC from the Town and Country Planning Department.

For Representative Purpose Only

Since these are the pre-requisite for a hotel, tourism officials are now inspecting all hotels and issuing notices to those lacking these.

District Tourism Development Officer Vivek Chauhan said all hotels were being inspected and action like disconnection of power supply was being taken.

The step has, however, created a panic among hoteliers who said since TCP officials were engaged in the demolition drive, they were not available in their office to grant fresh NOCs.
They also rued that SPCB officials were not renewing the licence to operate since the NGT had taken note of the illegal constructions.
