Dense fog in Haryana and Punjab led to the delay of several trains. Spokespersons of the Ambala railway division said dense fog delayed 12 trains.
While the morning Shatabdi Express delayed by over two hours. it was scheduled to arrive at the station at 11.05 am.
The evening Shatabdi delay by an hour.The Kalka Mail delayed by two hours and 52 minutes, while the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Express was late by an hour and 28 minutes. The Una-New Delhi Jan Shatabdi express reached an hour and 23 minutes late.
The Lucknow-Chandigarh train, which was scheduled to arrive around 10.10 am, delayed by two hours and 35 minutes. The Patliputra–Chandigarh train delayed by three hours and 33 minutes.
The railway authorities have introduced more trains for the convenience of passengers. A communiqué issued by the Ambala division said the decision has been taken to clear the extra rush of passengers during winter holidays.
“Northern Railway has decided to run the 52443/52444 and 52445/52446 holiday special duplicate Shivalik Express trains between Kalka and Shimla from December 22 to January 15,” stated the communique.The 52443/52444 train will depart from Kalka at 12.45 pm and reach Shimla at 6.25 pm the same day.
On its way back, train will depart from Shimla at 9.25 am on Friday and reach Kalka at 3.20 pm the same day.The 52445 Kalka-Shimla train will depart from Kalka at 7.00 am and reach Shimla at 12.25 pm the same day.
It will depart from Shimla at 3.50 pm to reach Kalka at 9.15 pm the same day.
Western disturbances led to a rise in temperature, resulting in haze on Thursday afternoon. According to the weatherman, the afternoons will continue to remain hazy while fog will be witnessed in the morning and evening.
- Meanwhile, the maximum temperature was recorded at 22.8 degree Celsius. The minimum was recorded at 10.8 degree Celsius.
