Chandigarh, March 26:
With a view to ensure a transparent rice miling policy, the representatives of the Punjab Rice Miller Association today called upon the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Mr. Lal Chand Kataruchak here at his office.
Besides putting forward their demand for a corruption free policy, the representatives led by President Punjab and All India Rice Miller Association Tarsem Saini also made a strong case for stopping the pilferage of paddy, which is stored in the rice mills for custom miling, as this causes a huge loss to the State exchequer.
The association representatives also demanded that the distribution of paddy amongst the millers must be fair and equitable besides the representation should be given to the rice industry in the District Allotment Committees.
The Minister assured the representatives of all cooperation to the rice miling sector and said that a sound policy catering to the interests of the rice millers would be brought out. “Transparency would be the hallmark of my working”, said the Minister adding the interests of the rice millers are in the safe hands now.
The delegation also congratulated Mr. Lal Chand Kataruchak on assuming charge as the Minister.
Among others present on the occasion included Rajesh Tini from the Rajpura Rice Miller Association apart from representatives from Patiala, Sangrur, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Ropar, Mansa, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Gurdaspur.
