Transport Department recovers around Rs.39 crore from Tax Defaulters under Amnesty Scheme: Laljit Singh Bhullar

Punjab Transport Department has recovered over Rs.39 crore under the amnesty scheme launched by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led government for tax recovery from private defaulters of the state.

Divulging further, Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, on Thursday, said that the amnesty scheme was started on May 6, 2022, under which the amount of Rs.38.93 crore has been recovered so far. He said that the tax defaulters owed Rs.64.84 crore to the government.

The Transport Minister said that strict action will be taken against violators who have not paid the dues yet.

The Cabinet Minister directed the officials of the department to seize the buses of the private operators who did not pay taxes and remove the buses from the operating time table.
