Two nabbed for killing cop’s nephew

Date:

Abohar, February 5: Two residents of Fazilka district have been arrested by the Sriganganagar police for killing and looting Pankaj Soni (26), a nephew of Rajasthan Police official Kuldeep Soni.Terming the incident as “highly challenging”, Rajasthan Police Inspector General Bipin Pandey and SP Harinder Mahavar had inspected the crime site outside Budharwali village on the Malout-Sadulshehar-Sriganganagar road on December 7.

Circle Inspector Kuldeep Soni’s nephew was targeted by unidentified motorcyclists on December 6.The miscreants fired seven bullets and looted silver metal from the deceased.

Eight police teams were formed to crack the case. It appeared that the killers were aware that Pankaj supplies silver ornaments on his motorcycle every Wednesday and carries cash on his return.

Sriganganagar ASP Surinder Singh Rathore today claimed that the investigation indicated that noted criminal Ankit Bhadoo of Sherewala and Sahil Bishnoi of Khairpur village (both in Abohar) and Balkaran Singh of Jandwala Kharta village (Fazilka) were responsible for the murder and loot.

The police have arrested Sahil and Balkaran under Sections 302 and 392 of the IPC and Arms Act. They will be produced in court tomorrow.

Information gathered from the Punjab Police indicated that Ankit was booked earlier too for similar incidents and Balkaran was facing trial under the NDPS Act.
