Chandigarh, May June 1: Two men with fake appointment letters in the name of secretary to Punjab governor recently came to Punjab Raj Bhawan, seeking job under Class 4 employees, interviews for which were conducted in April, said police.
Krishan Verma, deputy superintendent of police (Central), said, “Parvesh and Manish have been found with the fake appointment letter of appointment at the Punjab Raj Bhawan. We have registered a case and have initiated investigation to find the culprits.”
Police said that letters were posted to the duo and they are trying to find the originating place.
A senior investigating official said some unidentified people took money from the men on pretext of granting them job in the Punjab Raj Bhawan. The police are not ruling out an insider’s job as the format of the letter could only be with a person who has worked in the office.
Shikha Nehra, spokesperson of the Punjab Raj Bhawan, said, “A month ago interviews were conducted for Class 4 employees and the results are yet to finalised. However, on checking it was found that fake letter of appointments with forged signatures and other details were already out. So after taking note of the matter, it was brought to the notice of police.”
A case under Sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 470 (forged document of electronic record), 474 (having possession of document described in Section 467), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 511 (attempting to commit offences punishable for life) of the Indian Penal Code against unidentified persons has been registered at Sector-3 police station.
