New Delhi, February 27
Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla has written to chief secretaries of all states and UTs asking them to strictly adhere to the Covid guidelines for the month of March, which are extension of the February norms.
He noted that there is a need for maintaining caution and strict surveillance to fully overcome the pandemic.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday had extended the February guidelines till March 31.
Asking the state officials to strictly comply with the guidelines, Bhalla said, “All activities have been permitted, subject to following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), issued by respective administrative Ministries and Departments as well as the SOPs, which are to be issued by the states and UTs.”
The Home Secretary in the letter also reiterated that there would be no restriction on inter-state and intra-state movement of persons and goods, including those for cross-land-border trade under treaties with neighbouring countries.

Noting that the number of active and new cases in the country has substantially declined over the past few months, Bhalla said, “But still there is need for maintaining caution and strict surveillance so as to fully overcome the pandemic.”
