Vigilance Bureau arrests Head Constable red handed accepting bribe Rs 1,000

Chandigarh August 18 :

Aiming to eradicate corruption in the state the Vigilance Bureau Punjab during its ongoing campaign on Thursday arrested Head Constable (HC) Vinod Kumar (No. 1320/Bathinda) posted at police post Vardhman, Bathinda for taking bribe of Rs 1,000.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau (VB) said the accused HC Vinod Kumar has been arrested on the complaint of Kuldeep Singh of village Buladewala, Bathinda district.

He further informed that the complainant has lodged a complaint on state anti-corruption helpline and alleged that the accused HC has took bribe of Rs 1,000 for releasing his friend Jageer Singh resident of Naruana Road, Bathinda from Police custody in Vardhman police post.

The complaint further added that the HC Vinod Kumar has demanded Rs 5,000 for releasing Jageer Singh but the deal has been struck at Rs 1,000.

After verification of the facts in the complaint and the material evidence, a VB team has arrested HC Vinod Kumar. In this regard a case under FIR No. 07 dtd.18-08-2022 u/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused police official at VB police station Bathinda and further investigation is under progress.
