Vigilance Bureau arrests MC Building Inspector, Clerk for taking bribe Rs 6,000

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign, has arrested Building Inspector, Vishal Rampal, and Clerk Gurvinder Singh Guri, both posted in Municipal Corporation Ludhiana for taking a bribe of Rs 6,000 in two instalments. Vishal Rampal is now transferred to MC Amritsar.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said this case has been registered against the above said employees after investigation of an online complaint lodged at the Chief Minister’s anti-corruption action line.

Giving details he added that the complainant Jugal Kishore, resident of Haibowal, Ludhiana had alleged that the above said officials have taken Rs 6,000 as a bribe in two instalments in lieu of issuing NOC of his property. The complainant further alleged that the accused had demanded Rs 15,000 for the same but deal was settled at Rs 6,000. He further added that the complainant has recorded the conversation on his mobile in this regard.

The spokesperson added that the VB unit of Ludhiana range has investigated the allegations levelled in the complaint and registered a corruption case at VB police station Ludhiana against the above mentioned employees of MC Ludhiana after finding them guilty for demanding and accepting bribe money. Both the accused have been arrested and would be produced in the competent court tomorrow at Ludhiana. Further investigation in this case was under progress, he informed.
