Vigilance Bureau nabs PSPCL JE for taking bribe Rs 10,000

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Tuesday nabbed Sham Singh, Junior Engineer, PSPCL Alawalpur, Jalandhar red handed accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 for Installation of power transformer.

Disclosing this year today a spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau (VB) said the accused Sham Singh, JE was arrested on the complaint of Tarlochan Singh of village Sarmasatpur, Jalandhar district. He informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that he is a marginal farmer and applied for individual transformer of agricultural power supply for his tubewell.

The complainant further added that the JE has already completed the work assigned to him by the PSPCL to install transformer but demanding Rs 15,000 as bribe but the deal was stuck at Rs 10,000.

The spokesperson further informed that after verification of his allegations a VB team laid a trap and the accused was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe money of 10,000 from complainant. The tainted money was recovered from his pocket in the presence of two official witnesses.

He added that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at PS VB Jalandhar and further investigation is under progress.
