Vigilance Bureau Nabs Sewa Kender Computer Operator For Taking Bribe Rs 4,000

Chandigarh March 14 : Aiming to curb the menace of corruption in the state on the directions of the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti corruption campaign, on Tuesday nabbed a computer operator Mangjeet Singh, posted at Sewa Kendar, village Kanganwal, Malerkotla district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the above said Mangjeet Singh, resident of village Ramgarh Sardaran, tehsil Payal, Ludhiana district has been arrested on the complainant of Sikandar Khan, resident of village Kanganwal.

Giving details he added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said computer operator has demanded Rs 5,000 as a bribe to correct the name of his wife’s father on the marriage certificate.

The spokesperson informed that a VB team has laid a trap and the accused Sewa Kendra official has been arrested on the spot while taking a bribe of Rs 4,000 as a bribe from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered
