Vigilance Bureau registers case against Constable for taking bribe Rs. 2 lakh

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau during its anti-corruption campaign on Wednesday, has registered a corruption case against Constable Inderjit Singh, (No 237/Ferozepur), posted in special branch, SSP office, Ferozepur for accepting bribe of Rs 2 lakh and further demanding Rs 5 lakh.

Giving this information here today, a spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau (VB) said the accused Constable Inderjit Singh has been booked under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act after the investigation report prepared on the basis of a complaint lodged by a complainant Janak Raj of village Panje Ki Uttar, Ferozepur district on State Anti-Corruption Helpline. In this regard a FIR has been registered at VB Police Station Ferozpur.

Revealing the details, he informed that the complainant has alleged in his online complaint that the above mentioned Constable was demanding bribe and threatening him to book in a false case for storing liquor made for Chandigarh. The complainant has submitted that the accused Constable has already taken Rs 2 lakh in this regard and demanding Rs 5 lakh more as a bribe thereby he recorded the conversation on his phone.
