Vigilance nabs two ASIs posted with Amritsar narcotic cell for taking bribe

Chandigarh, March 18:  Punjab Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed two Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) posted in Narcotic cell, Amritsar red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 1,5000/-.

Disclosing this here, an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said ASI Tilak Singh and Pragat Singh was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Rajesh Babbar of Amrtisar district.

The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused two ASI’s were demanding Rs 20,000 In lieu of not to register another narcotics case against the  brother of complainant regarding recovery of tablets and the deal was struck at Rs. 15,000.

After verifying his information, the vigilance team laid a trap and the accused two ASI’s were arrested on the spot while taking bribe of Rs. 15,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused VB police station Amritsar and further investigation was under progress.
