Six-time CM Virbhadra Singh doesn’t own a car, worth pegged at 13 crores

Date:

Chandigarh, October 22: It might sound strange but it is true, six-time Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has no car. This is not all, the CM assets has also declined significantly in comparison to the last Assembly elections. This was disclosed by the CM in his affidavit submitted while filing nomination papers for Arki assembly segment.

The 83-year-old Congress stalwart, Virbhadra has shifted his constituency for the fifth time. Previously, he had contested assembly elections from Jubbal in 1983,  Kotkhai in 1985, Rohru in 1990, 1993, 1998, 2003 and 2007. He shifted to Shimla Rural in 2012 after Rohru seat was declared Reserved. Now the CM has left Shimla (Rural) segment for his son Vikramaditya Singh.

Congress insiders also revealed that the CM did not opt for Theog as he is facing strong resentment of the people of area over the Kotkhai gang rape and murder case. The people were aggrieved with the fact that the police had arrested innocent people while real accused were still at large. The state government has miserably failed to handle the situation.

While providing details about his assets, the CM has disclosed that he owns total movable and immovable assets Rs 13.68 crore and his liabilities are of Rs 39 lakh while his wife, Pratibha Singh, owns assets worth Rs 16.32 crore. Interestingly, the CM owns more jewellery than his wife.

At present the CM and his wife owned total assets worth Rs 30.50 crore. If we go by the background , the CM had assets worth Rs 34 crore and his liabilities were Rs 24 lakh in 2012 assembly elections. The facts holds importance as the CM and his wife Pratibha Singh were alleged to be involved in connection with disproportionate assets worth Rs 10 crore by the CBI.

Going into details of assets, the CM revealed that he has Rs 5.50 lakh in cash while his wife has Rs 50,000. As immovable properties are concerned, the CM has Rs 6.53 crore and his wife  of Rs 14.31 crore comprising of CM’s ancestral palace Shanti Estate in Sarahan, and agricultural land at Damrali near Rampur. Virbhadra has also disclosed that he has Income Tax dues worth Rs 4.78 crore and that of his wife is Rs 1.07 crore. In addition to it, the CM has also  government dues worth Rs 5.17 crore while his wife of Rs 1.07 crore.
