Warring conducts surprise check at Barnala bus-stand, announces Rs 2.5-cr for its facelift

Chandigarh, October 23: In a bid to ensure the best possible transport services to the passengers in the state, Punjab Transport Minister Mr. Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, on Saturday, made a surprise visit to the Bus Stand and PRTC workshop in Barnala.

While taking a stock of the sanitation arrangements and other facilities at the bus stand, the Cabinet Minister interacted with the passengers to get familiarized with the problems faced by them.

He also lent ears to the grievances of the employees. He directed the officials to further improve the cleanliness and sanitation arrangements at the bust stand.

Raja Warring reached out to elderly women sitting at the bus stand to be familiar with the problems faced by them during the bus travel.

Interacting with the media, the Transport Minister said that a total Rs.2.5 crore will be spent on facelift of the Barnala Bus stand. Rs.1.5 crore would be spent by the Transport Department and Rs.1 crore by the Improvement Trust over the renovation works.

The Improvement Trust Chairman Mr. Makhan Sharma apprised the Minister that tenders worth Rs.1 crore have already been floated for the renovation and the work will be initiated soon.

 

 

During the visit, the Transport Minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kumar Saurabh Raj, SSP Mrs. Alka Meena, SDM Mr. Varjit Walia, RTA Mr. Karanbir Singh Chhina, GM PRTC Mr. M.P. Singh.
