Date:

Chandigarh, June 3:

Punjab cabinet minister Mr. Harjot Singh Bains on Saturday has decided to hold weekly review to to speed up the work of Nangal Flyover, an important project for Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

Chairing a meeting to review the progress of Nangal Flyover at Punjab State Secretariat, Mr. Bains expressed concern over the tardy pace of this project due to which the people traveling via this route have to face traffic snarls. The business of Nangal city has also been suffering a lot.

The meeting was attended by officials of PWD Punjab, Northern Railways, National Highway Authority of India, local administration and contractors.

The officials highlighted the reasons for the delay in the completion of this project including delay in the approvals given by the Railways and approving body for the quality control of the materials used in the project.

Mr. Bains urged to the railways officials that this project is already far behind its schedule and they should expedite the approvals process so that the commuters take a sigh of relief. He also asked that if there is any problem in getting any approval from the central government regarding this project, then it should be brought to his notice so that he can take up the matter with union government.
