Welfare of forest workers top priority with State Government: Lal Chand Kataruchak

The Punjab Government led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is leaving no stone unturned to ensure raising the living standard of every strata of society. The forest workers also form a very significant part of these efforts and it is top priority with the State Government to undertake every possible step for their welfare. These views were expressed at Forest Complex, Sector 68, Mohali by the Forest and Wildlife Preservation Minister Mr. Lal Chand Kataruchak while presiding over a meeting with the workers of the Democratic Janglat Union.

Reiterating his firm resolve towards welfare of Forest workers, the Minister said that as far as the paying of arrears to these workers is concerned, the in principle approval regarding the same has been given and now the letter from Government of India is awaited pursuant to which the arrears would be paid. He also said that the DFOs have been directed to make sure that the salaries of the workers are paid before 10th of every month.

Coming to the other issues, the Minister said that as regards the regularisation of adhoc workers, the Government is making sincere efforts towards this and a comprehensive policy is being prepared. Regarding the seniority list, Mr. Kataruchak mentioned that its preparation is under process and it would be ensured that no deserving employee is left out. The granting of facilities and benefits to the adhoc workers on the lines of regular workers would be done only in accordance with the Government rules.

Among those present on the occasion included the PCCF R.K. Mishra, APCCF Dharminder Sharma and other officers.
