Chandigarh, November 14
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Youth Wing president and MLA Meet Hayer termed the dengue death of Daljit Singh Kaka Bhau, an activist of Unemployed PTI Union (646) who was fighting against the unemployment as ‘government murder’ and held the ruling Congress responsible for it. In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Sunday, Meet Hayer expressed condolences on the behalf of the Aam Aadmi Party on the untimely death of Daljit Singh Kaka Bhau, a promising youth from village Kauriwala (Sardulgarh) Mansa belonging to unemployed PTI union (646), who was demanding job by staging a dharna in Mohali. Hayer blamed the ruling politicians, including the rotten and disoriented government system for this.
He said that on the one hand there are hundreds of vacancies for PTI teachers in the government schools of the state and the students are longing for PTI teachers to play, on the other hand, PTI candidates with required qualifications are compelled to hold permanent dharnas on the road-tanks for jobs. Hayer said that under the banner of Unemployed PTI Union (646), for the last 32 days, young boys and girls have been sitting on dharna under a water tank in Mohali with some of their associates sitting on the water tank for the last 32 days.
Meet Hayer said that on the one hand Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi was making new dramas every day to stay in the public eye, but have no time to listen and meet the protesting youth located just 15-20 minutes away from his private and government residence; which proves that Channi is just making false claims, far from the ground realities. He said that if the government had the right policy and clear intentions then the issues of not only PTI unions but also various unemployed and other organisations sitting on dharnas across Punjab could be resolved in a matter of hours.
The AAP leader further said that the health of the people was not on the agenda of the government like the education sector, which was why the Congress government could not control the spread of dengue even today despite hundreds of deaths due to dengue. Hayer said that Daljit Singh had contracted dengue due to the pollution in the area where the protesters were sitting on dharna in Mohali; as he had been sitting on the same spot day and night for 29 consecutive days. Directly blaming the government for Daljit Singh’s death, Hayer demanded that the Channi government should provide a government job and adequate compensation to a deserving member of Daljit Singh’s family as well as ensure that all the unemployed sitting on dharnas get jobs as per their promise of Ghar-Ghar Rozgar.
