Why threat of anti-national forces increases in Punjab before elections: Aman Arora

Date:

Chandigarh, August 17

Taking seriously the volatile atmosphere being created in Punjab ahead of the 2022 general Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has questioned why Punjab is being targeted by anti-national forces every time before the elections. After the elections, in which pit do such anti-national elements enter, which were not found by the intelligence and security agencies of the country and the state.

In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Tuesday, senior AAP leader and MLA Aman Arora, pointed finger at the worst law and order situation in the state and the intentions of the state and central government. Aman Arora said, “There are only six months left in the Assembly elections. Like the Badals, the law and order situation in the Congress rule has gone from bad to worse. In such a scenario, the people may have lost all faith in the state government, but I bow down to the people of Punjab, who have maintained mutual understanding and goodwill despite the deteriorating law and order situation.”

He further said it was a matter of concern that after the black era, whenever there were general elections in Punjab, anti-national forces were making headlines in the newspapers and media. “This is bound to create fear in the minds of the afflicted Punjabis,” he added. Aman Arora said, “The Chief Minister has always expressed concern over the threat to the law and order of the state and the country by quoting anti-national forces. This fear has been repeated 2-3 times in the last 10 days. There have been reports of terrorist activities across the border through drones. Grenades are being recovered and anti-national elements are being arrested. The growing number of such terror headlines is even more worrisome, as there are only six months left in the Assembly elections.”

“There should be no compromise with the internal and external security of the country. It is the responsibility of our state and central agencies to keep a close eye on anti-national forces. As responsible citizens, we should all be vigilant and co-operate with the government machinery, but the atmosphere of fear and intimidation that arises in a particular style before elections is not digestible and raises all sorts of doubts and suspicions,” said Arora. Therefore, it has become even more important for every citizen to be aware and vigilant about such incidents and news, he added.

Seeking clarification from Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Aman Arora said, “As Home Minister, tell us that the activism of anti-national forces before the elections is due to the failure and weakness of the state and central security and intelligence machinery, or is it a political conspiracy to instill terror in the minds of the people?”

Arora asked the ruling Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu whether it was right for Captain Amarinder Singh to remain the Home Minister for the security of the state and the country; who even after four-and-a-half years had failed to give justice to the victims of the Maur bomb blast and find the culprits. He alleged that the probe into the Maur bomb blast was not carried out deliberately due to collusion between Captain and the Badals. He said on the one hand, Captain Amarinder Singh was trying to teach a lesson to Pakistan and the anti-national forces and on the other hand he had failed miserably to improve the deteriorating law and order situation in his border state as a Home Minister and Chief Minister.

Drawing attention of the Chief Minister to the rampant deadly gang wars, rapes, thefts, robberies, ransoms and other incidents of unrest, Aman Arora said that he (Captain) was no longer a soldier, who will only deal with the external forces across the border. “He is now the Home Minister and Chief Minister of a border state. Maintaining proper law and order internally in the state is his (Captain’s) primary responsibility, which he is not fulfilling,” he said.
