Chandigarh, November 19:
In a bid to ensure the best civic amenities in SAS Nagar (Mohali), Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Mr Aman Arora on Saturday ordered slew of measures aiming at ramping up the road infrastructure and beautification of the model city of Punjab.
Chairing a meeting convened on the demand of Local MLA Mr. Kulwant Singh to further improve the road infra and other facilities, Mr Aman Arora asked the GMADA officials to chalk out a plan to remove traffic bottle-necks at congested roads, besides, submitting a detailed survey report to widening/four laning of three roads where problem of traffic congestion is prevalent. The three roads includes Kumbra Chowk (Dividing road chowk of Sector-61/70 and Sector 62/69) to Bawa White House; village Mohali to YPS Chowk; and Sector 62/63/50-51 Chowk to sector 65/48 (Golf Range), he said.
The Cabinet Minister also asked the concerned officials to explore the feasibility where new roundabouts can be constructed to smoothen the traffic movement in the city. Special focus should be laid on the beautification of this model city, he added.
During the meeting, it has also been decided that GMADA will extend financial help to Municipal Corporation Mohali to buy four road sweeping machines to keep the city neat and clean. He asked the officials to set up a Facility Management Service Centre at Aero City to upkeep the infrastructure to provide the best possible facilities to the residents.
He also made it clear to all the officials that violation of rules and laxity in duty will not be tolerated at any cost, while ordering to launch an anti-encroachment drive against violators. He reiterated that Chief Minister S Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government is fully committed to ensure the best possible facilities in urban areas.
Principal Secretary Housing and Urban Development Mr Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Chief Administrator PUDA Ms. Apneet Riyait, Deputy Commissioner Mohali Mr. Amit Talwar, Chief Administrator GMADA Mr. Amandeep Bansal, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mohali Ms Navjot Kaur, Chief Town Planner Punjab Mr Pankaj Bawa and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
