Gidderbaha, July 14: Almost six months after Shaminder Singh Sekhon, former president of the Gidderbaha Arhtiya Association, allegedly committed suicide by driving his car into a canal near here, the bodies of his 46-year-old wife and 23-year-old son with bullet wounds on the head were found at their residence in Baba Gangaram Enclave of Gidderbaha town on Friday. A double-barrelled gun was recovered from the spot.
The deceased were identified as Sharanjit Kaur and her son Sugreev Singh, who had done MSc (mathematics) from a college in New Delhi. He had returned to Gidderbaha shortly before his father’s death and was now preparing for the civil services exam. The police have started an investigation. A forensic team and a dog squad also reached the spot.
Rajpal Singh, DSP, said, “It appears that both died on Thursday. No one in the locality heard gunshots. We are suspecting that one person committed suicide after murdering the other. However, no suicide note was recovered. A case of murder is being registered against unidentified persons.”
