CHANDIGARH, JULY 21:
Terming it as yet another insidious attempt by BJP to demean the sacrifices of our Anndatas, the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Thursday castigated centre for keeping the ‘Food Bowl of the Nation’ out of the Committee on MSP.
Without Punjab, there can never be any discussion on any aspect of Agriculture, Sandhwan said underlining that keeping Punjab away from the so-called Committee is yet another ploy to instigate Punjab as the brave punjabis had successfully led the longest peaceful campaign on Delhi borders and got the deaconian laws repealed.
Sounding a stern warning, the Vidhan Sabha Speaker said Punjabis know how to resolutely stand in the face of oppresion, arrogance and injustice; the announcement on November 19, 2021 by PM Modi to repeal vicious legislations is just the latest example, he added.
Questioning the relevance of any Committee on MSP without Punjab, Sandhwan said the announcement is just aimed at political posturing without any tangible will to make MSP a legal right for our farmers. What will they discuss without Punjab, he quipped.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare had, last week, notified a 26-member committee to “promote zero-budget based farming” and make the MSP more effective and transparent.
